Story
The Annenberg Treehouse is the first universally-accessible treehouse in a public space in the country. Based on a concept developed by Forever Young Treehouses for rehabilitation clinics and the Paul Newman Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, the Annenberg Foundation wanted to enable people of all abilities to enjoy the treehouse experience in a public setting.
The Foundation hired Punt Consulting Group to work with craftspeople, specialty contractors, and structural engineers to bring this community resource to life—a complex process that included the navigation of permitting with local municipal agencies for something that had never been done before. The Treehouse has been an overwhelming success, not just for those with different abilities, but as a multi-generational playspace that welcomes all.
