The Discovery Children’s Museum – while operating as the Lied Children’s Museum – had a master plan for re-invention and expansion. The museum board was ready to solicit implementation funding for the exhibits for their proposed 58,000 sf new building in the heart of Las Vegas. The museum hired Punt Consulting Group as the Owner’s Representative for the 26,000 sf of new exhibitry which was to be designed in conjunction with the impressive new building architecture.
In order to keep the project on schedule, Punt Consulting Group provided the architects with infrastructure specifications in advance of the exhibit designers being hired. As a large, multi-faceted undertaking, the comprehensive RFQ/RFP selection process yielded over 130 proposals. All proposals were received and reviewed by Barbara Punt of Punt Consulting Group, and filtered for general suitability and specific capabilities, which ultimately resulted in the Museum hiring six different design/build teams across the United States and Canada.
Punt Consulting Group ran the selection process and negotiated all of the exhibit contracts to coalesce the project. Punt Consulting Group then managed the complex exhibit development, design, fabrication and installation, making frequent presentations to the Building Committee of the Museum Board. The result of these efforts is that there is today a greater educational presence for children and their families in downtown Las Vegas.
I recently worked with Punt Consulting Group on a project that began without a project manager, until everyone realized just how big a job that was. Barbara came in and picked up the responsibility seamlessly and professionally and ran the project so well that most of us still have only an inkling of how big a job it is. Its always great fun to work with Barbara, but the best part is the confidence that you have that the project will be done right!Bill Booth President, Booth Learning
